This month, I had the pleasure of attending Gartner’s Supply Chain Executive Conference in Phoenix. In almost every way this is a large and very professionally run conference with over 1500 attendees, everything you would expect from a Gartner event. In this post, I will summarize some of my favorite takeaways from the conference.

KataCon People: Skip Steward

While many conferences are an audience listening to keynote presentations, KataCon is more of an annual get-together of a community. If I can only go to one conference a year, it is KataCon, period. For example – I think it was Beth last year that said “We don’t experiment toward the target condition, we experiment against obstacles.”

Getting Up to Speed on Business Analytics at INFORMS

This was my first INFORMS Business Analytics conference and I was not sure what to expect. These sessions were incredibly valuable, but there is much more to the conference – there is the time between the sessions as well. For example, the 2014 Edelman winner was the Kid Risk Team at the U.S. The AIMMS team at INFORMS.
