NOL to sell off APL Logistics Business Unit?

I have been reading many reports in the media regarding the news that Neptune Orient Lines (NOL) is planning to sell its logistics business unit – APL Logistics – in order to improve its performance. However, NOL issued a “Clarification on Media Report” stating that “These considerations are preliminary and exploratory in nature. There is no assurance that any definitive transaction for the sale or an IPO of NOL’s logistics business will be conducted.”

Transpacific Stabilization Agreement carriers announce September 1 rate hike

Member container shipping companies in the Transpacific Stabilization Agreement have announced an across the board general rate increase (GRI) of $600 per FEU to all destinations. Reason for the planned GRI is due to continued strong demand and high vessel utilization levels in the past few months. They anticipate the strong demand lasting through September.

Maersk Line Revives Sealand Name

Maersk Line recently announced the the formation of a regional containerized shipping company that will service the intra-Americas region. The name of the new affiliate will be called Sealand. According to a Maersk Line press release , the new affiliate will operate similar to the company’s other regional carriers including; intra-Asia carrier MCC Transport and intra-Europe carrier Seago.
