Industry data for 2004 - 2013 shows an annual loss of at least $17 billion due to vacant positions, with shocking losses of around $45 billion in both 2012 and 2013. The executives surveyed identified these positions as those they believe currently most affected and that they expect will present even more severe staffing difficulties by 2020.
