Following two weeks of increases, the national average price per gallon of diesel gasoline, headed down, for the week of February 6, according to data issued today by the Department of Energy’s Energy Information Administration (EIA).
With an 8.3-cent decrease, the national average fell to $4.539 per gallon, which was preceded by a 1.8-cent increase, to $4.622 per gallon, for the week of January 30 and an 8.0-cent increase, to $4.604, for the week of January 23, with a 2.5-cent decline, to $4.524, for the week of January 16.
Prior to the week of January 23, the national diesel average had fallen in nine of the previous 10 weeks, through the week of January 16, falling a cumulative 78.9 cents, from an average of $5.313, for the week of November 14 to $4.524, for the week of November 16.
What’s more, the national average has fallen a cumulative 77.4 cents going back to the week of November 14, seeing decreases in ten weeks over that 13-week period.
Compared to the same week a year ago, this week’s diesel average is up 58.8 cents, down from a 77.6-cent annual difference a week ago. WTI crude oil is currently trading at $75.67 per barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
