Odyssey Specialized Logistics LLC opens up new metal logistics facility in Brooklyn, Ohio

Danbury, Conn.-based logistics and technology services provider Odyssey Logistics & Technology Corporation recently announced that its Odyssey Specialized Logistics LLC has opened the doors to a new metals logistics facility in Brooklyn, Ohio.

Odyssey said that this new facility will roll and hold warehousing and area transportation, joining Odyssey’s other roll and hold facilities located in California, Indiana, Louisiana, Missouri and Texas, offering flatbed trucking and warehousing. The company added that this facility will employ warehouse operators and flatbed truck drivers to make local metal deliveries.

The new facility, which is located at 9000 Brookpark Road, spans up to 72,000 square-feet of warehouse space, giving the company more than an acre of exterior truck parking and four ground-level truck doors, according to Odyssey, with the company adding that thew facility has a wide range of material handling equipment, including 10- to 40-ton overhead cranes, 30-ton coil grabs, a 25-ton C-hook, a 15-ton, 12-foot spreader beam, a 12-ton cady lifter, carbon and stainless steel plate hooks and a 15,500-lb capacity forklift. The facility also has RF scanners with cameras for documenting product condition, an inventory management system with 24/7 access and a full EDI suite. Odyssey also said it will offer a value-added services menu and export packaging consisting of full metal can and chipboard metal blend.

“Our new Brooklyn location joins a family of well-established facilities that provide premium steel warehousing and area transportation to the metal logistics industry,” said Jon Kelly, Vice President Trucking Operations, Odyssey Specialized Logistics LLC, in a statement. “This is an ideal location as it has existing infrastructure and sits in close proximity to the Port of Cleveland and a number of other metal processing companies in the Cleveland area.”

Kelly told LM that a major driver for the Brooklyn, Ohio facility stems from how the company Odyssey continually searches for growth opportunities in and out of its current footprint.   

“In hiring the proper sales/operations team members, we’ve been able to pursue business in the Cleveland Market that we were unable to previously service,” he explained. “As we approached current/potential customers, the need for warehouse space became a reoccurring theme.”

As for the key customer benefits of this facility, he pointed to how it is a heat and humidity-controlled warehouse space in close proximity to the Port of Cleveland, major metals manufacturers, and metal consumers in the Midwest and beyond.  

“Warehouse space is at a premium in the current market,” he said. “With import product pushing the same need, the facility is positioned well to succeed.”
