Diesel average rises 1.5 cents to $3.093 per gallon, reports EIA

Following a slight decline last week, the national average price per gallon for diesel gasoline increased 1.5 cents this week to $3.093.

This marks the sixth time in the last eight weeks has seen a gain, and it also marked the eighth consecutive week that the national diesel average has topped the $3 per gallon mark.

Prior to that, the average had been below the $3 per gallon mark for five weeks, and before that stretch, the last time that the national average dipped below the $3 per gallon mark was the week of March 19, 2018, when it was at $2.972.

Compared to the same week a year ago, the national average is up 5 cents, ahead of last week’s 3.6 cent annual spread and down from annual spreads of 7 and 9.8 cents, respectively, the two weeks before that.

West Texas Intermediate Crude oil is currently trading at $64.11 per barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange, which is ahead of last week’s $62.68.
