Two subsidiaries of TFI International, a transportation and logistics holding company, Dallas-based TForce, a customized final-mile logistics services provider, and Joplin, Mo.-based CFI Logistics, a trucking and logistics services provider, have partnered up to create a dedicated final-mile delivery network comprised of truckload transportation assets and logistics expertise to support high-velocity, time-definite supply chain operations.
Both companies bring a lot to the partnership with their respective service offerings. TForce’s network is made up of 60 U.S.-based distribution and product staging centers, including almost 4,000 dedicated last-mile delivery trucks, covering 92% of the U.S. The company’s service portfolio includes: last-mile service for parcel, package, freight and large format goods delivered to homes and businesses. CFI Logistics provides complimentary supply chain planning, optimization, and transportation management services focused on ensuring optimal network operations, asset deployment and utilization, and supply chain productivity.
In an interview, Scott Leveridge, president, U.S., TForce, explained that the industry, in general, is looking for consolidated solutions in order to compete and succeed in today’s competitive logistics environment.
“Customers on both sides have asked how our sister company can help in current and future service requests,” he said. “Simply put, CFI customers asking questions about Final Mile and TForce customers asking about Truckload. In our industry we see a lot of logistics promises that are not backed by assets and fall through. Customers are searching for real companies with real solutions. CFI and TForce have a combined history of over 100 years of evolving with the dynamic logistics industry. For us success is providing supply chain solutions for our client base. We have the resources to back our service.”
As for what this service brings to the table for shippers, Leveridge said it answers the call for an established, reliable company in the market to marry both middle and final mile.
“It makes sense for our collective customers to have a broader scope for supply chain services with a single point of contact,” he said. “With increasing cost and capacity pressures, we provide a single, reliable point of contact to consolidate multiple capabilities within a single partnership. We drive visibility and bottom line cost savings into one transportation solution.”
Leveridge also noted that the pairing of TForce and CFI combine technology, capacity, service, costs, and multiple partners.
“We are not reinventing the wheel, rather we streamlined business by consolidating transportation offerings into a more functional working relationship with the customer,” he said. “Our customers can more effectively source transportation through us to provide greater control on cost and supply chain management. It's a single point of contact that manages the customer’s needs for Truckload and Final Mile.”
CFI Logistics’ Vice President Bill Carter said in a statement that CFI is seeing rapidly increasing demand for broader services that can accelerate supply chain velocity, moving and staging goods sourced nationwide into strategic networks for last-mile delivery.
“Joining the resources of TForce, which has one of the nation’s most extensive and reliable final-mile delivery networks, with CFI Logistics’ planning and optimization capabilities, and the extensive assets of CFI, brings a unique solution to the market that’s ideally suited for these needs,” said Carter.
