The national average price per gallon of diesel gasoline fell for the second time in three weeks last week, according to data issued by the Department of Energy’s Energy Information Administration (EIA).
With a 1.2-cent decline, the national average is now $3.151 per gallon. This decline follows a slight 0.03-cent increase the week of May 20, which was preceded by a 1.1-cent decline to $3.160 the week of May 13 and was the first decrease over a six-week period.
The national average has seen gains in 12 of the last 15 weeks, and this week also marked the 15th consecutive week that the national diesel average has topped the $3 per gallon mark.
Prior to that, the average had been below the $3 per gallon mark for five weeks, and before that stretch, the last time that the national average dipped below the $3 per gallon mark was the week of March 19, 2018, when it was at $2.972.
