Memphis-based global transportation and logistics services provider FedEx said this week it has formally renamed Sydney, Australia-based logistics, freight forwarding and customs brokerage services provider Manton Air-Sea Pty Ltd as FedEx Logistics (Australia) Pty Ltd.
FedEx entered into an agreement to acquire the company in October 2018. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed
When the acquisition was initially announced, FedEx said that Manton’s services will help to augment and expand the myriad parts of the FedEx portfolio that focus on global e-commerce. And they added that Manton connects customers to global markets through regional gateways and relationships with multiple air carriers. Manton is well established in the healthcare and automotive sectors, with expertise in air and ocean freight forwarding, and customs brokerage services.
A FedEx official told LM that this marks a further expansion of the FedEx global portfolio, specifically in freight forwarding and customs brokerage.
“Manton’s capabilities will complement our offerings in this dynamic market, and we are excited to work with them to connect people and possibilities around the world,” she said.
FedEx said that FedEx Logistics Australia, which is headquartered in Sydney and has locations in Melbourne and Brisbane, offers the entire suite of FedEx Logistics specialty global logistics solutions, and it added that the newly renamed company gives customers access to key trade lanes, allowing them to both build their supply chains within Australia and connect to vital consumer markets throughout Southeast Asia and beyond.
Growth industries like healthcare, automotive, aerospace, industrial, retail, e-commerce and other high-tech fields are among key targets for FedEx Logistics Australia. In addition to flexible ocean and air freight forwarding, the company also offers less-than-container load (LCL) capabilities, warehousing and distribution, customs brokerage, and trade consulting services to customize solutions to meet customers’ global trade needs.
“Australia is an attractive market, a country with healthy growth and a key connection point for all of the services we offer across the Asia Pacific region,” said Richard W. Smith, President and CEO of FedEx Logistics, in a statement. “We at FedEx Logistics are proud to join our colleagues from FedEx Express and TNT — a FedEx company founded in Australia — in providing our customers a world class portfolio of domestic and international freight, parcel and logistics solutions. We couldn’t be more excited about the possibilities FedEx Logistics Australia offers for our customers, our business and our fantastic team members both in Australia and around the world.”
