Following six straight weeks of declines, the average price per gallon of diesel gasoline saw an increase, with a 3.8-cent increase to $3.010 per gallon, according to data issued this week by the the Department of Energy’s Energy Information Administration (EIA).
The diesel average had seen a cumulative 11.4-cent decline going back to the week of February 3, and this week marked the first week the average had topped the $3 per gallon average since the week of February 26, when it checked in at $3.007.
Compared to the same week a year ago, the national diesel average is up 47.8 cents, and average price of West Texas Intermediate crude oil is at $65.55 per barrel, which is up from $62.06 a week ago.
