project44 and Oracle Transportation Management partner up for multimodal integration

Earlier this week, Chicago-based project44, a technology services provider offering standardized, secure Web service API (application programming interfaces) integrations enabling 3PLs and shippers to connect with carriers in real time, said that its advanced visibility offerings are now available within the Oracle Transportation Management Cloud and Oracle Transportation Management version 6.4.2 or higher.

Oracle Transportation Management is its TMS leveraged by shippers and 3PLs, focusing on myriad transportation planning and execution solutions, including planning, execution, freight payment, and business automation, among others.

Company officials said that the objective of this integration is to eliminate gaps in real-time visibility and power users with high-quality and trustworthy Parcel, Final Mile, Less-Than-Truckload (LTL), Volume LTL, Full Truckload, Refrigerated, Rail and Ocean data.

Tommy Barnes, project44 president told LM, that there were various factors driving this collaboration between project44 and Oracle, explaining that Oracle customers represent some of the most innovative supply chains in the world.

“Those customers are putting increased importance on the role of predictability, data analytics, and business intelligence within their TMS solutions,” he said. “The prebuilt integration is designed specifically for speed and scale, enabling users of any size to quickly leverage cutting-edge technology without requiring additional IT investment. Users can turn on project44 within their TMS, connect to the largest network of multimodal carriers, and start saving time and money. That means immediate access to standardized, reliable, and multimodal data that p44 provides, setting the stage for advanced analytic capabilities.”

As for the primary benefits of this collaboration for customers, Barnes noted that with this integration to project44’s Advanced Visibility Platform, project44 enables Oracle Transportation Management users to execute on-demand inventory management and enable superior customer experiences.

“We do that by providing real-time, reliable, and predictive visibility into multimodal shipment tracking (along with pricing, routing, scheduling, digital document retrieval, and invoicing),” he said. “Examples of capabilities and improvements might be things like proactively recalculating pickup or delivery predictions; reducing dwell time using real-time truck locations; automating SMS and email ETA alerts through custom geo-fencing technologies; improving accounting fidelity; and gaining efficiencies during the rating and dispatch/tender process.”

This collaboration does not represent the first time project44 and Oracle have worked together, with project44 being a Golf level member of the Oracle Partner Network.

Barnes said that this is and will be an ongoing partnership with Oracle, adding that this specific announcement is “about continuing to add value to Oracle Transportation Management and its users by ensuring that our full advanced visibility solutions are available seamlessly within the system.”
