The average price per gallon of diesel gasoline fell for the fourth consecutive week, according to data issued by the Department of Energy’s Energy Information Administration (EIA).
Falling 2.8 cents, the national diesel average is now $3.216. This follows declines of 2.2 cents, 1.9 cents, and 0.3 cents, respectively, over the previous three weeks.
Over the course of the last four weeks, the average has dropped a cumulative 7.2 cents.
Prior to this four-week stretch of declines, the average price per gallon rose a cumulative 27.8 cents. Despite these declines, the diesel average has remained above the $3 per gallon mark since the week of March 26, when it was at $3.01 per gallon.
Even with this decline, the national diesel average is up 75.1 cents compared to the same week last year.
West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude oil is currently trading at $68.08 on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
