The average price per gallon of diesel gasoline rose for the seventh consecutive week, according to data issued by the Department of Energy’s Energy Information Administration (EIA) this week.
With a 1.4-cent increase, the diesel average came in at $3.171, ahead of last week’s $3.157 average. What’s more, during this seven-week stretch of increases, the average has been above the $3 per gallon mark. And during that span the average has risen a cumulative 16.1 cents.
Compared to the same week a year ago, the national diesel average is up 60.6 cents.
West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude oil is currently trading at $70 per barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange. This marks the first time WTI crude has eclipsed the $70 per barrel mark going back to November 2014.
