TForce Logistics expands Texas-based last-mile presence

Dallas-based TForce Logistics, a freight transportation and logistics services provider and a subsidiary of TFI International, announced this week it has rolled out a Texas-based regional e-commerce network, which provides customers with expanded, expedited next-day delivery for the largest metropolitan areas in the state.

TForce Logistics called this new offering a regional “mini network,” with Dallas serving as the central entry point for Texas-bound parcel and regional shipments. And from Dallas shipments are then trucked overnight to Houston, San Antonio, and Auston for next-day delivery, with Dallas-bound shipments delivered next-day, too.

“Our existing branch presence in Dallas, San Antonio, Austin, and Houston combined with the increased demand for regional final mile EComm delivery solutions in the Texas markets made it a natural fit,” Dean Mills, TForce Logistics vice president of sales for North America, told LM. “It’s completely aligned with our North American regional Ecomm strategy and is one of five ‘mini’ regional next-day network we have launched.”

TForce Logistics’ Texas presence is comprised of the following:

  • four eCommerce distribution and fulfillment centers covering 191 zip codes in Dallas,
  • 127 zip codes in Houston,
  • 74 zip codes in San Antonio;
  • and 56 zip codes in Austin, encompassing a statewide population of over 15 million consumers

The company said that these sites serve as receiving centers for inbound “delivery ready” shipments that are immediately cross-docked into last-mile operations.

The other TForce Logistics regional U.S networks are located in Northeast (New Jersey, New York, Long Island, Philly, Baltimore and Washington DC); Southern California (Los Angeles, Ontario, Hollywood and San Diego); and the newly launched Texas operation (Dallas, Austin, San Antonio, Houston).  And, in Canada, they include Central Canada (Toronto, Kitchener-Waterloo-Guelph, London, Ottawa, Montreal, and Quebec City); and Western Canada (Calgary injection:  Calgary, Vancouver, Victoria, Edmonton, Red Deer, Regina and Saskatoon).

“Our Texas regional EComm network provides a fast and affordable alternative to traditional parcel carriers,” said Mills. “As EComm shippers look for alternatives, it was a natural fit to turn our Texas branches into a connected regional EComm network.  By inducting into Dallas, EComm shippers get next day service in the 4 largest cities in Texas.”

As for the main competitive benefits of these expanded last-mile services in Texas, Mills cited the following: Speed (next day service), Affordability, Flexibility, and Visibility.

“With one induction point in Dallas, EComm shippers get next day service into all four cities through our connected overnight network,” he said. “Our regional EComm strategy allows shippers to partner with TForce Logistics in all major US and Canadian regions (Northeast, SoCal, Texas, Chicago (expansion in 2022) and Southeast (Q4/Q1 2022).  We are the only regional final mile provider with North American coverage.”

Looking ahead, TForce Logistics said it is in the planning phases to roll out more regional networks in Southeast U.S. (Atlanta, Jacksonville, Orlando, Tampa and Miami); connecting the current Southern California regional network into Northern California (San Francisco Bay Area); and launching in the Southwest (Phoenix and Las Vegas).
