ALAN coordinates logistics response to Hurricane Florence

The American Logistics Aid Network continues to receive requests for – and offers of – warehousing and logistics services to support hurricane response.

The American Logistics Aid Network (ALAN) is working to coordinate the logistics community’s ongoing Hurricane Florence relief efforts.

“By now, we had hoped to be able to offer some reassuring news along the lines of ‘thankfully it didn’t turn out to be as bad as people were predicting’ or ‘the worst is over,’” wrote ALAN executive director Kathy Fulton. “But unfortunately, that’s not the case. In fact, if you look at the various images, it’s overwhelming – because there are many aftereffects like flooding that we can’t do anything about.”

The good news, she continued, is that ALAN continues to hear from numerous people and organizations ready to help. Click here to find a list of requests and resources for donating equipment, warehousing, donations, sponsorships or volunteers.

As the recovery continues, additional threats to the retail supply chain loom. Grocers, hardware stores, gas stations and more are all experiencing shortages due to increased demand.

“As Florence’s flood waters begin to recede, our relief partners will need help getting items to and from impacted areas, which is when we expect donated services like transportation to become especially critical,” Fulton wrote. “With that in mind, we ask that you continue visiting our micro-site often, because even though the storm has passed, we will need your help for a long time to come.”

ALAN continues to support emergency management partners with information and relationships to ensure they have the best data for decision making.
