FMCSA removes ArionT ELD from list of registered devices

June 28, 2022
Motor carriers using Arion Tech's electronic logging device have until Aug. 24 to replace the revoked ELD with a compliant device before they risk being placed out of service.

The U.S. Department of Transportation’s Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) has removed the ArionT ELD from its list of registered electronic logging devices (ELD). FMCSA said in a statement that it has placed the ArionT ELD on the revoked devices list due to the company’s failure to meet the minimum requirements.

According to FMCSA, motor carriers that use ArionT ELD must discontinue using the revoked devices and revert to paper logs or logging software to record drivers' hours-of-service data. Furthermore, carriers must replace the revoked device with a compliant ELD from the registered devices list before Aug. 24.

Motor carriers have a grace period of up to 60 days to replace the revoked devices with compliant ELDs. If Arion Tech corrects all identified deficiencies, FMCSA will place the device back on the list of registered devices and inform the industry and field inspectors.

During the grace period, safety officials are encouraged not to cite drivers using an ArionT ELD for “failed to use a registered ELD.” During this time, safety officials should request the driver’s paper logs, logging software, or use the ArionT ELD display as a backup method to review hours-of-service data.

Beginning Aug. 24, motor carriers who continue to use the revoked device will be considered operating without an ELD and will be placed out of service, according to FMCSA.
