Every morning, before having my coffee and eating breakfast, I shuffle out to my driveway to get the newspaper.
Yes, I still get the newspaper. Just like virtual events don’t provide the same experience as attending an in-person event, reading a physical printed document (a newspaper, a book, etc.) is a different experience than reading it online, at least for me. Even though I own a Kindle, for example, all the books I read are paperbacks and hardcovers. I like turning pages, and the sound of pages turning.
On Monday, as I read the Wall Street Journal while having breakfast, I noticed that there was a supply chain story on the front page, above the fold. It inspired me to take a photo and share it on LinkedIn with a brief comment. What happened next surprised me.
As of this morning, that simple post has received over 59,300 views, 700 reactions, and 51 comments. It took me 2 minutes to compose that post. Others take me much longer to write and they get a fraction of the response. It just goes to show that with social media, you just never know what’s going to take off and engage people. Thank you to all who commented on the post, as well as liked and shared it too.
