First, I will give you my hypothesis answer which is " Yes " it has. Of course, I have been wrong before and will be wrong again but this would be my position going into the discussion. Because of COVID19 we have learned the proper mix of "I need go to the store" with "I can wait to get it delivered". So, yes, my answer is an resounding "Yes". I see this for three main reasons and in this posting I am going use Amazon as the proxy for e-commerce since it is so dominant in that space.

Etihad Cargo has announced that to complement its fleet of Boeing 777 Freighters, the carrier is introducing a fleet of Boeing 787-10 aircraft as passenger freighters to operate 34 weekly flights, serving 10 markets initially. Kalmar has signed an agreement with Tokuyama Kairiku Unso K.K. to supply a hybrid straddle carrier for the company’s operations at the Port of Tokuyama. The order was booked in Cargotec’s 2020 Q1 order intake, with delivery scheduled to take place during Q1 of 2021. The Port of Tokuyama is located in Yamaguchi Prefecture in the south west of Honshu, Japan’s main island, and handles 137,000 TEU annually.

A Lufthansa passenger aircraft loaded with around 30 tons of freight, recently landed in Frankfurt after a flight time of 11 hours and 6 minutes. In addition to the cargo compartments of the Airbus A330, the cabin including the stowage compartments above the seats was also loaded. On board the aircraft with the registration number D-AIKI were various highly urgent goods, mainly from the medical sector, including masks and other protective equipment.

Wärtsilä and PSA Marine have successfully completed initial sea trials for the IntelliTug project. PSA Polaris, a harbor tug owned and operated by PSA Marine, has been retrofitted with a suite of Wärtsilä technology to enable autonomous navigation. Carried out in Singapore, the trials commenced in September 2019. They verified the IntelliTug capability to avoid a variety of obstacles, including virtual and real-life moving vessels.
