1. How will the weather impact your logistics this week?
This week will be reasonably quiet compared to the previous weeks across much of North America, with a quick-moving storm called a “clipper” being the only storm dropping snow this week. Adding to the nearly 24 inches of snow dropped in the northeast, the winter weather system will add a few more inches of snow and ice from Philadelphia to Maine and on into Canada. Seriously… 7-hour wait time! Are you experiencing delays with travel or shipments at the border? Data says some crossings are experiencing 7-hour delays to cross while other crossings are completely closed. Here is a resource to check the wait times at the border crossings in Canada.
5. ATRI ranks the top 10 bottlenecks in the US.
The American Transportation Research Institute analyzed over 300 locations and GPS data from over 1 million freight trucks. After sifting through terabytes of data, the #1 freight bottleneck in the US is in Fort Lee, NJ, at the I95/State Route 4 intersection.
