RTAP DELAY | The Port of Vancouver delays the start of the Rolling Truck Age Program.

The Rolling Truck Age Program (RTAP) at the Port of Vancouver has been pushed back to April 3, 2023.

The program’s overarching goal is to reduce carbon emissions typically produced from older equipment. 

The United Truckers Association (UTA) has been opposing the program and threatening job action should the RTAP go into effect. Click here


TURKEY TROUBLE | A resurgence in avian flu has turkey producers concerned for this holiday season.

After months of no cases of avian flu, ten outbreaks have been reported since mid-July, affecting 617,200 turkeys. 

This resurgence of avian flu in the US will impact turkey prices ahead of the holiday season. 

Approximately 5.4 million turkeys have been killed to try and stop the outbreak.

An uptick in exports contributed to a shrinking trade deficit for the fourth straight month in July. 

This increase in exports could provide a lift going into the third quarter of the year, spurring economic growth. 

Imports are seeing a decline, and here is why.


TRUCKER EXPRESS ENTRY | Canada opens the Express Entry program to truck drivers seeking employment.

The Canadian Trucking Alliance (CTA) and the Canadian Immigration Minister, Sean Fraser, have decided to open the Express Entry program to truck drivers from other countries. 

This program would tackle the 8% vacancy rate in the Canadian trucking industry. 

The CTA estimates that by 2024 there could be nearly 50,000 truck driver vacancies.
