From adecco UK’s website, I find some interesting skils they talk about in logistics industry. My previous work has a close relation with logistics department. My job is to ask the assuming shipping cost and time for pre-orders, provide key information including order package info, receiver’s info etc for them to arrange the shipping and ask the feedback from shipping company. These skills comply with what I observe my workmates in my previous work.

Data Analysis

In this industry, data is vital – all good logistics managers need to be able to read and analyse data to recognise different trends and patterns that are useful to their firms. Using spreadsheets to plan and execute projects is also essential, along with strong mathematical skills. My logistics workmates usually ask me each month’s assuming and confirmed shipping orders information for their work. They usually calculate the cost based on the flightcases numbers and compare costs with different carriers.

Project Management

Project management experience or knowledge can help you move up the ladder in your logistics career. These skills can allow you to be involved in risk management or developing new supply chain and logistics strategies. My workmates sometimes need to show up in loading warehouse to control the loading process. Before they need to contact drivers enter factory area smoothly. Delay sometimes happens in the process. They need to coordinate well with outer carriers and inner customers.

–Soft skills

Innovation
Logistics companies depend on people who can innovate and find ways of doing things better. Natural innovators are motivated to improve work processes to achieve results more efficiently continually. Logistics is an exciting sector to work in because the work is constantly evolving, and there’s plenty of opportunity to innovate. My workmates also need to control the price for each order. Besides, they need to know newest package ways and risk points in every shipping and improve the way after some obstacles in the shipping.
