1. Could your company be impacted by tariffs?

US proposed tax credit for American made electric vehicles (EV’s) could set off a tariff war. The Canadian government is taking issue with the Build Back Better bill and the proposed $12,000 consumer tax credit for EV’s built by US automotive unionized workers. Canadian officials are focusing retaliation efforts on US exports from the automotive sector and considering suspending parts of the USMCA. Click here to see how much the tariffs could be and what additional industries they will impact.

2. Unfit trucking companies removed from the roads.

If the FMCSA has its way, unfit trucking companies may cease to exist. The proposed rule changes will pertain to ELD’s, automatic emergency braking (AEB) systems, and roadside inspections. The roadside inspection ranking system could change to make it easier for law enforcement officials to identify and remove “high-risk operators.” Deadlines and details on the impending rule changes can be found here.

3. Canada approves new ELDs for drivers.

Canada has a rigorous testing standards and approval process for Electronic Logging Devices (ELDs) and has added two new devices that have been third-party-certified. The reasoning behind such stringent testing through third-party testing is to ensure the roads are safe for commercial drivers and the public. 4. Smoothly navigate conversations on supply chain woes.

Being the supply chain industry expert in your family, prepare to discuss work when you want to relax. Family and friends may not be aware of how sensitive the supply chain is, and the slightest change in how & when people spend their money can set off a tidal wave that upsets the entire industry. This article easily explains the supply chain problems and how best to navigate those conversations this holiday season.

5. How will the US economy rebound after a pandemic?

Donald Broughton, managing director of Broughton Capital, predicts that a bullish boom is just around the corner. As demand continues to grow and supply chains shorten, many companies plan to move operations from overseas back to the US. Broughton offers many predictions supported by data for what could be called the great post-Covid boom. Read more on the predictions here.
