Meritor launches year-long aftermarket training series

Dec. 13, 2018
In 2019, Meritor will host at least 12 regional training events across the U.S. and Canada for parts/sales and service personnel.

Meritor Inc.’s 2019 Aftermarket Training Series will focus on improving uptime and customer satisfaction by providing attendees with proactive, solution-oriented skills and product information, the company announced this week.

“Investment in employee training is critical with today’s fast-evolving, heavy-duty truck technology. The success of service and parts facilities depends not only on repairing the truck right the first time but also on training and retaining employees in a competitive job market,” said Joe Baumer, aftermarket training manager for Meritor.

In 2019, Meritor will host at least 12 regional training events across the U.S. and Canada for parts/sales and service personnel. Meritor’s regional and on-site training includes day-long classes for parts/sales personnel as well as Fleet Night sessions, for service personnel.

“Today’s heavy-duty truck service and parts personnel need a variety of training options based on their skill and technology comfort levels. In addition to our on-site training events, Meritor offers an array of online and interactive distance training opportunities,” said Baumer.

Meritor’s online training resource, BullPen, is an easily accessible, on-demand training site available 24 hours per day. It not only provides instant access to up-to-date product information and technical training but also provides a training management tool for supervisors giving them the ability to plan, assign and monitor the individual progress of their team members. Due to its ease of access, more than 430,000 Meritor BullPen courses have been successfully completed since 2004.

While Meritor’s BullPen is for the individual, Meritor also provides multiple venues for live, instructor-led group training, including interactive distance training (IDT), regional location training events in cities across the U.S. and Canada, and on-site training at the customer’s facility.  Meritor’s interactive distance training courses (IDT) provide live training from seasoned Meritor instructors where participants can interact with the instructor and presentation in the same manner as if he or she were in the same room.

Added Baumer: “Providing a supportive environment for employee growth through continuous on-the-job training keeps personnel at the top of their game and demonstrates a strong commitment to the employee. Employee satisfaction is a key element in maintaining customer satisfaction.”
