DHL has published a comprehensive white paper on sustainable fuels for logistics. And, with the new EC president planning a ‘Green Deal’, which will see transport emissions need to be cut by 90% in the next 30 years, it comes at a useful juncture. The paper explores the benefits of “alternative fuels”, although it notes that electric is “the technology choice of the transport sector” but is currently restricted to short-range transport and not yet feasible for other routes. That means sustainable fuels need to play a crucial role, but must be carefully evaluated for environmental impact. The paper calls for coordinated action on progress, and a global knowledge base. A good read for anyone interested in this critical area of business.
