GEFCO has been awarded a Good Distribution Practice (GDP) compliance certificate by Bureau Veritas, confirming its commitment to quality management systems across the road transportation process of pharma products.

The GDP certificate, valid for three years, demonstrates the company’s fulfilment of the European Commission Guidelines on Good Distribution Practice of Pharmaceutical Products for human use. It reflects GEFCO’s commitment to high quality service, as well as its understanding of clients’ challenges, including the traceability of goods to prevent the risks of counterfeit or falsification.

The external auditor analyzed the GEFCO quality system and its ability to answer customer requirements in the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Greece, Romania and the Group’s headquarters in France.

The Life Sciences and Healthcare logistics market is evolving and becoming more complex. With the volume increase in temperature-sensitive products as well as the regulations related to their transportation, there is a requirement for companies to place more emphasis on control and security. Failure to do so could pose a risk to public health and potential loss of high-value cargo.

As an expert in Life Sciences and Healthcare logistics, GEFCO offers door-to-door, temperature-controlled, integrated logistics, multimodal and fully compliant solutions. In 2019, GEFCO will extend the deployment of the GDP certification for road activities in additional European countries.

“GEFCO has a strong history in the Life Science and Healthcare sector and is fully aware of its clients’ stakes. The GDP compliance is further proof of GEFCO’s commitment to supplying secure and compliant Life Sciences and Healthcare shipments and ensuring the integrity of all products,” said Alain Vignon, Head of GEFCO Management System.

Earlier this year, GEFCO opened its third Life Sciences and Healthcare dedicated temperature-controlled warehouse near Heathrow Airport in the UK, which complements GEFCO Air & Sea warehouses in Frankfurt, Germany and Amsterdam, Netherlands. Last year, the Group was also awarded the IATA-CEIV Pharma Certification for its Air & Sea activity in Netherlands. This compliance certificate reflects GEFCO’s expertise in Life Sciences & Healthcare supply chain management.
