Scan Global Logistics Trailer 2

P&O Ferrymasters and Swedish freight forwarder Scan Global Logistics are to jointly operate daily haulage services between the Benelux and Scandinavia regions.

The service will cover full truckload, less-than-truckload and groupage consignments.

The partners said it would be operated as a “combined cargo model, increasing the operational frequency and efficiency of the route, lowering costs for customers and expanding their range of logistics solution options”.

SGL managing director for road transport in Sweden Peter Anderson said: “It is a strategically responsible partnership, which goes to show that even in times of uncertainty opportunities arise and, with our combined efforts, the customers of both companies will experience even better logistics options.”

P&O Ferrymasters’ general manager in Amsterdam, Marcel Manshanden, added: “Our vision is to continue expanding our network into new geographies, enabling trade to flow more effectively and efficiently both for our customers and the economies which rely on the goods they supply. We look forward to the success this partnership will bring and to expanding our cooperation in the future.”

In the Benelux region, P&O Ferrymasters’ main hub is in Amsterdam, where it connects its European intermodal and road freight services, and is complemented by other operations in Rotterdam, Ijmuiden and Zeebrugge, from where sister company P&O Ferries runs ro-ro shipping services to UK ports including Hull and Tilbury.

The latter recently opened its £200m Tilbury2 terminal dedicated to handling unaccompanied ro-ro traffic on P&O Ferries’ Zeebrugge service. The facility is operated in a joint-venture between P&O Ferries and Tilbury owner Forth Ports and has capacity to process around 500,000 trailers a year.
