The national average price per gallon of diesel gasoline saw an increase for the second time in the last eight weeks, according to data issued this week by the Department of Energy’s Energy Information Administration.
Rising 1.3 cents, the national diesel average came in at $3.055 per gallon, following 0.001-cent and 2.7-cent declines, respectively, over the previous two weeks.
This week also marked the 21st consecutive week that the national diesel average has topped the $3 per gallon mark.
On an annual basis, this week’s average is down 18.8 cents, below last week’s annual spread of 19.4 cents.
West Texas Intermediate Crude oil is currently trading at $57.42 per barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
