The national average price per gallon of diesel gasoline fell for the second consecutive week, for the week of October 7, according to data issued by the Department of Energy’s Energy Information Administration (EIA).
Falling 1.9 cents, the national diesel average now stands at $3.047, coming on the heels of a 0.015-cent decline a week ago.
Prior to the last two weeks of declines, the national diesel average was down for ten consecutive weeks, from the week of July 15 to September 16, the diesel average dropped a cumulative 6.4 cents, according to EIA data.
On an annual basis, this week’s average is down 33.8 cents, steeper than last week’s 24.7-cent spread.
West Texas Intermediate Crude oil is currently trading at $52.05 per barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
