J.B. Hunt acquires Mass Movement Inc., to further increase Final Mile operations


Continuing to grow its final mile services offerings through acquisition, Lowell, Ark.-based trucking and intermodal services bellwether J.B. Hunt Transport Services Inc. announced today that its subsidiary, J.B. Hunt Transport Inc. has acquired the assets of Mass Movement Inc.

Based in Foxborough, Mass., Mass Movement Inc. has more than 20 years of experience providing logistics, delivery, assembly, and installation services for the commercial fitness industry. The company had $29 million of revenue in 2019. the company has delivered two million-plus pieces of equipment to more than 3,500 fitness centers throughout North America. Mass Movement Inc. was founded by Dom Simonetti and Jim Sullivan in 1996 and both will become J.B. Hunt employees remain in leadership roles as the company expands its fitness equipment delivery business.

“Mass Movement presents an opportunity to expand our expertise in the final mile delivery of big and bulky products,” said John Roberts, president and CEO of J.B. Hunt, in a statement. “The acquisition complements our current service and will enhance our ability to meet the growing demand of customers in the commercial health and fitness industry.”

This deal marks the fourth acquisition J.B. Hunt has made going back to 2017, including RDI Last Mile Co. in January 2020; Cory 1st Choice Home Delivery in February 2019; and Special Logistics Dedicated in 2017.

And over that period the company has grown its final mile offerings to 117 locations and more than 3.4 million square feet of warehouse and facilities space, with the company observing that its Final Mile group has the ability to serve 100% of the contiguous United States.

Hunt family.”
